Jen Adams is every statistic that you hear on the 6 o’clock news if you were to find yourself laughing at someone else’s misfortunes.
She has been called “edgy” but prefers the term “truthy”. Either way, she’s funny. Whether she is dissecting fairytale mythology, examining the dark side of childhood or confessing her weaknesses, she has the ability to turn tragedy into comedy.
Being raised in an inner city in Manhattan in the 80’s had its influences. She dropped out of high school, started playing the guitar and joined her father’s magic show. Jen traveled with her father, Magician Jack Adams, until his death in 1994.
Adams spent 11 years in the magic business before she found comedy and still maintains that it saved her life. At 33 she has been through more than most people go through in a whole lifetime and her experiences are the common thread throughout her act. Her style is dramatic and somewhat reckless as she likes to keep her audience a little off guard.
Her hippie parents played a lot of George Carlin, Bill Cosby and Lenny Bruce when she was little…so it really isn’t her fault. Blame them but laugh your face off anyway.
